Mercedes Benz combo of city and titan "Citan" on cards

News coming from the stables of Mercedes-Benz is that they are going to come up with a new mini-van The name of this model ‘Citan’ was revealed at an event held at the Mercedes-Benz Design Center in Sindelfingen and according to the carmaker this name is a combination of the words "city" and "titan," which means that the vehicle is going to be a specialist for city logistics. The carmaker is trying to make it a model that will meet the tough challenges faced in day-to-day operations.

A set of trade experts are of the opinion that this new mini-van by Mercedes-Benz will be based on the Nissan Evalia or the model code named as Nissan NV200. Recently the official sketches of this mini van that were unveiled by the carmaker have given rise to these speculations. As for the debut of this model it expected to take place at the renowned IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover in the month of September 2012 and this model will be up for sale by the end of this year. Though we do not have an official confirmation but from  German auto giant has earlier mentioned that it is developing a small van in collaboration with Renault-Nissan.

The carmaker is very upbeat with this new van series which they think will boost sales and will be one more series in Mercedes-Benz family of vans. But if the reports of the collaboration of the three auto giants are true than the trio will work further on projects for small vans and cars, which will begin from platform development and will go upto powertrain sharing. Coming back to Mercedes Benz’s mini van Mercedes Benz Citan pictures show that this model has a striking resemblance with Nissan Evalia a model that was showcased at 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi.
