Hyundai to develop a compact SUV to compete with archrivals Duster and Ecosport

The Indian car market is suddenly abuzz with reports coming in about several SUV’s being either developed or getting ready for a launch soon. Following the footsteps of French automobile giant, Renault and American car maker Ford, rumor has it that now Hyundai is developing a sub compact SUV. This South Korean car manufacturer has started working on a new SUV, which is likely to give stiff competition to all the other contenders in this segment. Hyundai India, which is one of the biggest car manufacturers, has given this task of designing as well as making this brand new Sports Utility Vehicle to their facility based in Brazil. The launch of this new SUV car in the country is not yet confirmed, but it is likely that it will be introduced in the car market of Brazil first. This new SUV will be positioned below the acclaimed Hyundai Santa Fe. Hyundai has unveiled a couple of revised versions of the Hyundai Santa Fe at the ongoing New York Motor Show.

There are no confirmed inputs regarding the Hyundai Santa Fe price, but it is likely to be announced closer to its launch in the country. The exteriors of this SUV are simply amazing with a lot of styling and a very attractive and bold front façade as seen in the Hyundai Santa Fe pictures. One of these new models is a 7-seater and the other one, which will be called as Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is a 5-seater. A Hyundai Santa Fe review says that this SUV will be fitted with a massive V-6, 3.3 liter engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission gear box. While the sport variant will feature two options – a 2.0 liter turbo charged 4 cylinder engine and another one is expected to be a 2.4 liter direct injection motor. Which one of these engines will come to the Indian market has not been disclosed yet and will be announced at a later stage. A few upcoming cars such as Maruti Ertiga, Tata Safari Storme, Chevrolet Captiva and Volkswagen Jetta will be launched in the coming weeks in the Indian car market. I recently shared about seven-seater 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander launched and Maruti to add a boot to A-star ?.
